The website has a helpful area called: Tips for Families Series
These fact sheets serve as tools to help Head Start health managers provide important information to families about National Center on Health priorities. We hope that you find them useful as you work within your programs and communities to strengthen the health and wellness of all Head Start children.
There are a number of tips on the page, here are the key ones I find helpful for parents:
Active Play: Tips for Families [PDF, 368KB]
This fact sheet helps Head Start health managers provide information to families on the NCH priority, active play. It includes tips families can use to help young children develop positive active play behaviors.
Health Literacy: Tips for Families [PDF, 128KB]
Head Start health managers may use this to provide information to families on the NCH priority, health literacy. It includes tips that will help families understand and use health information they receive from doctors and other sources.
Safety and Injury Prevention: Tips for Families [PDF, 316KB]
Child safety and injury prevention is the focus of this fact sheet for Head Start health managers working with families. It provides easy tips families can use to ensure their children’s healthy and safety at home, outside, in the water, and in a car or truck.
They are all nice and short 1-2 page handouts that you can provide to parents.
There are lots of great resources on this website that I will highlight in future posts.
